Our customer was building their new house and wanted a grand staircase in the front entryway. They wanted a custom-designed steel railing with a wood top-cap handrail so they emailed us a design they had in mind. We first went to the stair company & measured the curved wood stringer they fabricated. We then did our final measurements after the stringer was installed and we built the “fixture” used to fabricate the steel rail in our shop. We formed the pieces to fit the curvature of the stringer and built the frame in place for the rail. We returned to the shop and began fabricating the infill. After our installation of the rails, the stair company returned to install the wood top-cap on the railing. As you can see in the first picture, the end result was spectacular and elegant!
